“BE ON (OFF) BROADWAY!”
GUEST STARS IN THE VOCA PEOPLE GALAXY
The
Voca People are 8 Intergalactic "Vocal Acrobats" that
are literally out-of-this-world! What began in 2009 as a
YouTube sensation has developed an International beatbox/a
capella/vocals only phenomenon that is currently
capturing the hearts of music and Broadway lovers in NYC
and across the
US!
And
now we want YOU to be a part of the magic!
Our
project is called: "BE ON (OFF) BROADWAY!"
This
unique endeavor gives school singing groups, vocal
groups, choirs, glee clubs, opera companies, and beatbox
teams, the chance of a lifetime: To be a part of the
Voca People's show at the New World Stages as special
guest stars to perform their song to a live New York
audience!
In
addition, we would offer special discount tickets to the
friends and family of the chosen groups so everyone has
a chance to see them on stage and experience the
all-vocal, International meets Broadway Intergalactic
Sensation: VOCA PEOPLE.
This
is the "real life" GLEE, giving the chance for singing
groups of every kind, background, and style to shine in
the lights of Broadway and bring joy and pride to their
schools, communities, and most of all, themselves (and
bragging rights too!).
All
you have to do is submit a 1-2 song video/link/MP3 of
your vocal group to
vocapeopleevents@gmail.com

Wednesday, June 6, 2012-7pm: Inyang Bassey
Inyang
Bassey [pronounced E-yang] is an artist who leaves audiences
awestruck by the arresting emotion and raw power of her voice.
Currently featured on four tracks of
Moby’s recent release,
and on his new track “Poison Tree” which she performed with him
on the Tonight Show with
Jay Leno April 2012, Bassey exhibits an uncanny genre
defying dexterity. Her dynamic musical style is exhibited
raucously through her new solo project featuring a revolving
cast of stellar guitarists including Binky Griptite (Sharon
Jones and the Dap Kings), Tony Jarvis (Fela!
and HBO’s Treme), and Jaleel Bunton (TV
on the Radio). For a singer who has been called out by
institutions such as Vogue and Rolling Stone
for her dynamic emotional range, we can only look forward to her
upcoming debut solo recording!
Bassey’s powerful voice can next be heard
with The Roots on
July 20, 2012, 8pm at the Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center
in a tribute to celebrate the 70th year birthday of
the late, great Curtis
Mayfield.
